Classic book cover t-shirts for kids and grown ups

Yesterday, my daughter and her friend Gabriel were loudly debating the merits of their respective t-shirts – Hello Kitty vs. Ben 10. Hers was more beautiful and his was more powerful. Suddenly, it got me thinking, beside Princess and Transformer costumes, what else could they wear to make them be that inspired?

Other than eating ice-cream, cake or cupcakes, I think that being read to is my daughter’s favorite activity. Every night she gets to pick out four books for me to read to her. It makes her have a sense of control. I let her choose, even though I am going bonkers reading Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse to her repeatedly.

I did a little internet search and found one of the greatest ideas turned into a product, ever. Out of Print Clothing  “features iconic and often out of print book covers. Some are classics, some are just curious enough to make great t-shirts, but all are striking works of art.” Well-designed covers of your favorite books grace the front of their t-shirts, iphone covers, totes and other products. Imagine your child wearing a Harry the Dirty Dog, or a Brave New World shirt. Super cool. And you can wear one too. Also, you can order the book to go along with the shirt. I call that perfect one shop gift stopping. It doesn’t seem like it could get any better, but it does. For each shirt sold, a book is donated to their partner, Books for Africa, which sends books and text books to children in Africa, who are in desperate need of reading material.

I think that I will get matching Pride and Prejudice shirts for us both. And maybe, Caps for Sale for her, since I don’t know if she is into Jane Austen yet.
